Kai's Continued Adventure

Saturday ended up being sunny and warm, so Kai, Chris and I took a ferry to a local island and had lunch. The ferries are great for when you want to go somewhere but also don’t want to deal with Seattle traffic.

The sky was beautiful that day, and we got lots of photographs of the surrounding mountains and volcanos. Especially the volcanos. The very active volcanos.

Mount Rainier = Active Volcano Mount Rainier = Active Volcano

Mount Baker = Active Volcano Mount Baker = Active Volcano

Mount Baker is all the way near the border with Canada, so I was really excited to be able to see it all the way from Seattle.

We decided to just do lunch on the Island, since it was too cold to go Kayaking (and subsequently blow chunks in the Sound) or canoeing. Plus last time Kai went canoeing he ended up capsizing with a bag of wine.

We took the ferry back to Seattle, where we booked it to Pioneer Square to catch the 3,00 Underground tour. Living in Seattle, you hear about the Underground tour from locals, and everyone seemed to like it. The tour guides take you under the sidewalks of the old part of town, which was built up after the Seattle Fire. The stories were OK, but the tour was a little disappointing.

The skylights built into the sidewalk, inventive. The skylights built into the sidewalk, inventive.

We were bummed out that there were NOT any ghosts down there, although there were doors and windows.

MORE CREEPY MORE CREEPY

Kai always demands “more creepy” from tour guides, especially those who advertise their tours with “ghost” or “haunted in the name. More on that tomorrow.

Creepy enough! Creepy enough!

We did learn that old town Seattle was as scrappy as new Seattle, so I guess that counts.

More Ghosts! More Ghosts!

I’ll update the rest of Kai’s trip tomorrow.
