Furniture Shopping in Pioneer Square
Furniture shopping is a scary experience. It involves commitment, large amounts of money, and quick decision making. It also sometimes involves really enthusiastic sales people working on commission, so going into a furniture store can feel like a hostage situation as you falsely wax poetic about the furniture because you can’t be honest with the salesperson hanging on your back.
Pioneer Square is the oldest part of Seattle, where the settlers built the first homes and businesses.
Old Timey Seattle
Seattle was also briefly home to the tallest skyscraper outside New York City, which must have made Chicago angry.
Rip-off of the Wrigley Building
Seattle also had a big fire (gaps, Chicago wannabes!), about which I will write more next week after Kai and I go on the famous Underground Tour.
A close up of the crazy parking garage
Pioneer Square is a mixture of touristy and dereliction, so it has a unique flavor. Speaking of which, we had lunch at Berliner Doner Kabob. This turned out to be an excellent and delicious decision.
Germany!
Froeliche Mahlzeit!
We did end up buying a couch, I took a picture of the model, although ours will be a different color. I like odd color fabrics, it makes a room look more cheerful, or at least original.
But in blue-gray like the Seattle sky. RAIN.
The stores in Seattle tend to be Seattle-bound, in that they aren’t chains. It tends to be that way in cities, I guess because they have the population to support single stores.
And I thought Chris and I had bad last names
We took the waterfront road back, because it is always fun to see the tourists out and about in the parkas and sensible shoes. We did run into a famous person, so I took a photo for my wonderful friends back home.
Team Tatonka! Hawking Cashmere scarves!
I have to put these two photos from my Mom up.
More attention!
Burf! Dad's little lap dog.
