Fire!
So last night at 10:00PM our building’s fire alarm went off. I was in the shower, so I had to process the noise, jump out, get dressed and help Chris quickly locate the terrified cats. Poor Hank was scared to death of the noise, so he was huddled at the foot of the bed, and Lee had hidden himself under a chair. After unceremoniously shoving the cats into their respective cat houses, we grabbed the keys and ran down the stairs. Fortunately our building has three staircases, but unfortunately the one closest to us is locked from the inside, so get out you have to have your key. This has to be some sort of major fire hazard, no? Thankfully we had Chris’s key so we weren’t trapped in the staircase, although we were definitely the last people out of the building. Hank let out some very gutteral Siamese yeooowlls once we got outside, although he spent most of the time we were evacuated terrified into rare silence. The fire trucks actually got there before we got out of the building, so I’m pretty sure we would die in a real inferno.
Turns out that someone had left something in the common room oven (which is not really common space, they must have had a key) and it caught fire. Stupid. I don’t have any photos of the evacuation, so here is one of Ted Ted Teddy and Kai.
